Who you’ll be trusting with your skin

I’m Karen, an Integrative Skin Care Practitioner and owner of Skin Perfection in Blenheim.
Belgian-born and New Zealand-based, I bring a European skin health background together with local clinical experience to support women whose skin is asking for more than another “quick fix”.

I specialise in Corneotherapy, and the FaceUp Method, and I’m known for being detail-focused, quietly perfectionistic, and very honest about what your skin does – and doesn’t – need.

I’ve worked in the skin industry for over 15 years, both in Europe and here in New Zealand. Early on, I was trained to chase surface results – smoother today, tighter tomorrow – even when it meant compromising the skin barrier.

Over time, I started to see the same pattern: women arriving with drawers full of half-finished products, sensitised skin, and a lot of frustration.

Retraining in corneotherapy and advanced skin analysis gave me the language and tools for what I’d been sensing all along, that the most respectful, effective work starts with barrier repair, clear diagnostics, and honest education.

Now, every consultation is built on that foundation: I look at what your skin is telling us, we discuss the realistic options, and we choose a direction that feels both clinically sound and realistic for you.

  • Barrier first
Your skin isn’t a problem to be scrubbed into submission. We start by repairing and protecting your barrier, so everything else we do has a stable foundation.

  • Nervous-system aware
Stress shows up on the skin. Treatments here are designed to soothe, not overstimulate. From the products I choose to the pace of your appointment.

  • Nutrition-conscious
I don’t replace your nutritionist, but I do respect the gut–skin connection. Where appropriate, we’ll gently explore how internal factors may be contributing to what you’re seeing on the surface.

  • Slow beauty, not quick fixes
I’m not interested in 7-day miracles that backfire a month later. I prioritise changes your skin can sustain, so progress feels calmer and more predictable.

  • Precision over excess
More products, more steps, more actives isn’t my style. I’d rather you use fewer things well than chase the next new serum.

What this means for you:

You get thoughtful, individual care, not a menu of trends. We slow down enough to understand what your skin has been carrying, then build something that actually fits your life.

What I believe good skin care should feel like

Why I work this way

What
“Skin Perfection” means here

The name often raises an eyebrow...   “So… you make skin perfect?”

For me, perfection has never meant poreless, ageless or filtered. It’s about how things are done.

In my practice “perfection” looks like: patch-testing before we introduce a new active, adjusting a formula instead of pushing your skin through discomfort, and taking the extra few minutes to explain why we’re doing something, not just what.

It’s the quiet satisfaction that every step of your care has been considered.  From the way I cleanse your skin on the bed, to the order in which you apply your products at home. Your skin will always have a history, a personality, and a future.

My job isn’t to erase that,  it’s to help it function at its best, so you feel more at home in it.

Training & credentials

When I’m not in the clinic, I’m usually with my family or walking somewhere quiet with our dog, trying to practise the same “slow” I talk about in the treatment room.

I’m a reader, a note-taker, and the sort of person who will happily spend an evening refining a treatment protocol or reviewing my clinic, home-care routines until it feels just right.

I don’t share much about my personal life online, but I do understand that skin is always connected to the rest of you, your stress, your sleep, your pace of life.

If this way of working resonates with you, slower, more precise, less noise...  you’re welcome to come in and see what your skin has been trying to tell us.
