Switching up your skincare regime when the season’s change is a must-do practice if you want to stay on top of your skin health.
I’ve started to write this information out as a blog for you, but the recommendations summarized outlined better as a checklist for you. So here you have it; kick-off your spring with the following skin-loving edit:
1 – Starting your bathroom detox: Go through all your products, cosmetics, body care, and don’t forget the sunscreens. Check the dates and THROW away expired products. Sunscreens opened from last year? Bin it.
2 – Switch up your skincare and make sure you have got the following ingredients:
Vitamins A – C – B – E. Getting your hands on a mask with vitamins or a more potent cocktail of vitamin serums will help to protect your skin against oxidative stress. UVR causes more than a visible sunburn and leads to inflammation and collagen & elastin degradation in the skin.
3 – Team up your NEW sunscreen with anti-oxidants. Actives such as green tea and cm-glucan carry photoprotection, flavonoids, immune-stimulating & antimicrobial properties, soothes and hydrates the skin, relieving inflammation.
Here’s a tip: Consider the difference between an SPF 30 and SPF 50. It’s less than 2%. You’ll find more chemicals in SPF50 to give you a longer burn time protection. BUT, the skin will endure more chemicals with a higher SPF. Look at the ingredient list to ensure broad-spectrum and avoid cheap and harmful ingredients especially fragrance, perfumes, essential oils, scent ingredients.to avoid pigmentation.
4 – Make sure you cleanse your skin at night, (including children & husband). Even wearing no makeup, it’s essential you cleanse your skin in the evening, remove it from dirt, grime, and sunscreen. You’ll be amazed what shows up on your cotton pad …

5 – Check-in regularly over spring and have a facial treatment to prepare & maintain your skin with VITAMINS and ANTI-OXIDANTS. Oxidative stress will ALWAYS affect your skin. But when avoidable [especially when high over spring-summer] it will minimize premature skin aging. In basic terms, oxidative stress causes free radical formation. These harmful and aggressive chemicals diminish and reduce healthy cells.
HOW to manage this? When anti-oxidants are near, they are the first ones to be attacked by free radicals. This ‘protects’ the other cells in the skin. You can see how daily topical applied anti-oxidants can help preserve the skin against premature aging. During a bespoke facial treatment, your ingredients needed are customized to your needs and wants.

6 – Don’t settle for general water SPRAYS and MISTS. Overuse, can unsettle the ph and ‘dry out’ your skin. Often they have added chemicals that agitate and irritate the microbiome leading to more dryness and sensitivity. A corrective and even customized skin spritzer that suits your skin is the better option. A tonic with cucumber spritz or lotion with added essential fatty acids is a better-suited option for dry skins looking for hydration or even to set your mineral makeup.
7 – Hats and polarized sunglasses are a good investment. Absorbing UVR through the eyes causes melanin cascade. An increase in melanogenesis. The process for pigmentation.
8 – Water! Making sure you have a good water bottle to keep your hydration intake. 🚰
Love the skin you’re in!
