Unfortunately, many people suffer from skin concerns. According to the *AAD, one in 10 people will struggle with atopic dermatitis. Psoriasis is primarily seen in adults, with the highest proportion between ages 45 and 64. There are different forms of psoriasis. The most common one (affecting about 80 to 90 percent of psoriasis patients) is plaque psoriasis — characterized by patches of raised, reddish skin covered with a silvery-white scale. But the most common skin condition is acne.
Typically people tend to do 2 things when suffering from acne. Exfoliate or apply makeup to cover the imperfections and blemishes, or both. Nonetheless, creating beautiful skin starts with a healthy functioning barrier. Ideally, you would want your makeup to sit flawlessly, for a long time and serve your skin without compromising it. Mineral makeup IS an extension of your skincare. In fact, you don’t need to use a lot, and long term, your skin is far better off.
I love to use quotes and analogies. In my opinion, it can sometimes be the easiest way to get my point across.
Think of it when you fit out your brand new kitchen.
The builders have done a great job, and you want to continue a beautiful and quality finish, but it takes time and effort for you to find what is suitable + not to mention the extra cost. Quality can easily get compromised, ending up at Kmart or the equivalent for cheaper appliances and further fittings… Sounds familiar?
Initially, these may look good, but you have to replace them when the complications start to appear after a short time. Good quality appliances are far better and more beneficial for us (think of being energy smart, environmentally friendly …) and will last a considerable amount of time longer.
Assume you are doing the same thing to your skin when using cosmetic products such as generic makeup (not all mineral makeup is created equal). A lot of it is filled with talc and bulking agents (cheap fillers), artificial colors, paraben, and preservatives, dimethicone which can cause skin breakouts (not ideal when you are suffering from acne), and bismuth oxychloride (these are the doubtful ingredients that cause the glitter and shimmer in makeup)
And just like the kitchen tools, when you have a problem/defect, try to patch it up or continue to use this and being aware of the damage it is doing — this same approach is often applied to our skin problems. This can lead you to need increased treatments and buying quality products in the end anyway.
Ordinary widespread cosmetics have too many other questionable ingredients and aren’t pure. As a result, they won’t support and benefit your skin, such as clean mineral makeup, and on the contrary, can actually aggravate your skin concerns or lead to skin problems.
My key tip?! Avoid comedogenic ingredients that may congest the skin and contribute to aggravating acne.
Choosing your makeup, ask the right questions. What do I use for my skin for the XYZ problem? Ask yourself HOW and WHY this problem has occurred. — YOUR WINNING ALREADY
Of course, I don’t expect you to know the answer, but it will lead you to the RIGHT WAY of THINKING and in the direction of an expert skin therapist that knows how to treat the skin.
SO WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF MINERAL MAKEUP?

- ANTIBACTERIAL
- SPF PROTECTION
- MAKE YOU LOOK FLAWLESS
- SKIN PROTECTION
- SKIN CORRECTIVE
Did you know that it’s best to build up your mineral makeup in layers instead of 1 thick, cakey layer?
